WHAT WE DO

We are a non-profit, No-Kill 501(c)(3) dog rescue organization based in Queens, New York that is creating a better future for homeless and mistreated dogs in South Korea. Due to the stigma associated with mixed-breed dogs and those from dog meat farms, most dogs have a low chance of being adopted in South Korea and run the risk of being euthanized. We transport at-risk dogs to the United States, where we place them in loving forever homes. Our current eligible locations for adoption include areas within New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Maryland, Massachusetts, and California. Through the adoption process, we can spread awareness about the brutal dog meat trade and advocate for the voiceless dogs that are still suffering.

Since getting Finn- they have been the greatest support system and family to us... If you're thinking of looking into Korean K9 as a potential adopter, volunteer, or foster- DO IT! If you are just thinking of donating to them- DO IT! Korean K9 is an amazing organization. I adopted my dog about a month ago, and could not be happier to have adopted from them. They were very helpful in the process post adoption. I'm a first time dog owner and live alone, so it was super helpful to have some guidance after. Gina checked in with us multiple times and the trainer I'm working with (assigned by K9) helped me remotely through the first week... if you're a true dog/animal lover and want to save a life, please go through with it because it's worth it in the end. You're supporting an organization that does amazing work and you will be paired eventually with one of their amazing dogs...

I heard about Korean K9 from a coworker who had a wonderful experience adopting through the rescue. We adopted our puppy Buddy (formally Aaron) through Korean K9 a little over a month ago. I've never experienced an organization that cares so deeply for their animals. I've fostered many dogs through other rescues in the city before adopting and the care and attention Korean K9 puts into these little ones is unlike anything I've ever seen. Buddy did not have an easy past (like all rescued dogs) but you could never tell, he is the sweetest, most loving puppy ever. Thank you Korean K9 for all that you do

Recently we adopted Bijou, she is a 1 yr old Jindo/Shiba Inu Mix. My partner and I are over the moon with her presence in our lives. *tears* The staff, volunteers, foster parents, everyone who helps out with the organization truly care for these pups AND the work they are doing overseas and here! to bring awareness and an end to the dog meat trade. Bijou remembers all the love she received while being with the Korean K9 Rescue family. Any time she sees Gina or others from the organization she gets SO SO excited to see them. (And mind you, she is a shy dog!)

...My girlfriend and I adopted a 6 month old jindo/spaniel mix back in April 2019 and he changed our lives! We'll forever be grateful to KK9R for rescuing him from Korea and bringing him here. It is a privilege to adopt and my advice is to have some patience during their process... Other pluses: Korean K9 Rescue offers advice/support for dogs and their adopters long after the adoption process! Their active responses to my questions on instagram and email gives me a lot of reassurance. I also love the community of alumni dogs that KK9R encourages. They've helped so many dogs find homes and yet they do their best to stay in touch with each and every one!

My husband and I are thrilled to have Ruthie in our lives - she certainly makes things much more interesting! 😉 The staff at KK9R are extremely dedicated to their cause and in turn have educated me. They're also very supportive and continue to be a great resource even after our adoption! Several of my friends have adopted from them and I always encourage other friends to do so as well. They have a strong alumni network throughout the five boroughs and have lots of fun events for all the pups and humans to connect at
