At Korean K9 Rescue, we’re committed to making the adoption of Jindo mixes, particularly those over 25 lbs, a success for both the dogs and their adopters. Recognizing the challenges posed by their often traumatic pasts, we’ve established the Jindo Journey Training Stipend to support these dogs as they transition into urban living environments.

We are excited to announce that we have secured private funding to support the post-adoption training of 150 Jindo mixes and local shelter dogs in our care.

This initiative provides a stipend of $300 per eligible dog (for Jindos) and will cover two vital training sessions to help adopters integrate these deserving dogs into their homes. The cost of a complete training package based on their needs for local NYC shelter dogs will also be covered entirely by this stipend. Only our recommended trainers will be assigned to each eligible dog adoption, depending on the location and needs of the dog. 

We understand that adopting a dog comes with expenses, including adoption fees, licensing, and supplies. Training is another important investment; this stipend helps offset that cost by covering two professional training sessions. While this program does not eliminate all costs associated with adoption, it makes training and adoption more accessible and helps set both dogs and adopters up for success.

Qualifications for the stipend include:

✅ Jindo mixes or local shelter dogs over 25 lbs 
✅ Dogs who have endured past trauma and need extra support adjusting
✅ Adopters looking to build trust and confidence with their new dog
✅ Foster Fails are also eligible for this stipend upon rescue manager approval
✅ Dogs adopted to the NYC area, Westchester, Jersey City area (3-mile radius)

The training sessions funded by this initiative will help adopters and their dogs navigate city life, ensuring a smoother transition into their homes. By providing this additional support, we aim to reinforce the bond between dogs and their families while maintaining our low return rate of 1.34%.

Along with assisting our rescued Jindos, this fund also fully covers training expenses for local shelter dogs from NYCACC, other nearby shelters, or local surrenders that are diverted from the shelter. By providing equal support to these dogs, we ensure they have a better chance at successful adoption and a smooth transition into their new homes.

For Jindo mixes over 25 pounds, the fund will cover two training sessions. Most of these dogs will need three sessions, and in some cases, especially with very timid dogs, up to five sessions may be necessary at the discretion of Korean K9 Rescue. While the fund pays for two sessions ($300), the adopter’s responsibility will cover any additional sessions beyond the two covered by the stipend. The adopter must pay the cost for these extra sessions in full when processing the adoption agreement. Dogs rescued from the NYCACC are eligible for the full training program.

The Jindo Journey Fund is valid from March 1, 2025, until the allocated funds are depleted. Please note that this stipend cannot be applied retroactively to any dog adoptions that occurred prior to March 1, 2025.
