OUR Alumni
Adoption FAQ
Attention all alumni! We are so excited to share our new Alumni Adoption Program.
Have you been thinking about adding to the fur family? We’d love to make that perfect match for you again!
- Priority consideration and expedited processing: we know you’ve been around the block before
- $100 off the adoption fee: we want to say thank you for growing the KK9R family! This applies only to Korean Jindo or Korean Village dogs. It does not apply to puppy mill rescues or any other breed specific dogs.
- Reduced training requirements: our team will chat with you on a case-by-case basis depending on the needs of the dogs and household!
- All adopters get 2 weeks’ of JFFD: we want all KK9R fur siblings to feel special!
- Submit an adoption application and our adoption coordinators will contact you for a brief virtual zoom call to go over everything. (If you have moved since you last adopted, we will also conduct a brief virtual home tour.)
- Optional: Attend one of our adoption events to meet the dogs in person and speak with the team about same-day adoptions if you are ready! (If you live outside NYC or are unable to attend the events, we are happy to set up virtual zoom meetups with the dog and fosters, or private meetups if you are able to travel to the foster.)
- Optional: Join Patreon as Dae-level members and reach out ASAP to applications@koreank9rescue.org if you would like to Patreon Foster-to-Adopt one of the incoming dogs from Korea.
Unfortunately, most events take place at our office space, which is very small, or at outside venues that can be very overwhelming for the dogs. We prefer that you attend events without your dog(s) and we would be happy to set up a private meetup with a dog of interest!
Yes, if you would like for the dogs to meet initially, please let our team know and we will coordinate a private meetup.
If you would like to foster-to-adopt, please see our Patreon FTA faqs, or our Foster-to-Adopt VIP program. Dogs outside of these programs are only eligible for regular adoption.
As with any new relationship, there is a natural ebb and flow as the whole household adjusts to the changes. We encourage you to stay patient and positive, and reach out to us and your professional trainers to make this transition as smooth as possible.
We consider out-of-radius applications on a case-by-case basis and would be happy to speak with you to make a match happen! Please note that as a small rescue, we do not have drop-off services and all adoptions must take place either at our office in NYC, or designated locations in MA or LA depending on the dog.
